The craft I saw was approximately 25-30 feet in diameter...it was disc shaped with orange/red lights grouped in pairs around the circumference at regular intervals, there also appeared to be some kind of antenna like devices protruding below the craft...it was travelling at a speed which I estimated as being in excess of 100 miles per hour at a height of around 250-300 feet

When my attention was first drawn to the craft I was seated at one of my living room windows which face south towards Glenrothes Town Centre...it was my son's 17th birthday and he called in to see me after school. We were talking about his day at school and general chit chat...as we spoke my attention was caught by a light above the trees which gave me the impression an airplane was on fire and flying towards my home...I called out to my son to look out of the window nearest him and he too saw this craft...we both agreed this was no normal sight in the skies over our town and as it passed overhead we rushed as quickly as we could to the front door where we saw the object again...it passed over the local shopping centre then seemed to stop and hover for a few seconds without changing its altitude..then changed direction slightly towards the north east and continued at speed beyond the treeline at which point we lost sight of it.

That evening the weather was cold but with no wind..it was dark and the object was not anything I or my son are familiar with...we both sketched the craft independently of each other immediately after and although I heard no sound coming from it but my son stated that he heard a faint buzzing or humming sound from the object...after thinking it over I phoned Fife Police Headquarters and advised them of what I and my son had seen...I was advised the incident had been recorded and no further action was taken. I remain convinced that what I saw was a real craft...however I cannot state with certainty that it came from another world...however in my lifetime I have never witnessed anything that left such a lasting impression on me...yours etc...
